What are CE marks?

The Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) and CE Marks
The Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) was adopted by the EU and from 2002 the PED is obligatory throughout the EU. The directive provides legal framework on a European level for equipment subject to a pressure related hazards. The purpose of PED is to harmonise national laws of EU countries regarding the design, manufacture, testing and conformity assessment of pressure equipment supplied within the European Union and the European Economic Area.
The Directive covers vessels (such as filter housings), pressurised storage containers, heat exchangers, steam generators, boilers, industrial piping, safety devices and pressure accessories. Such pressure equipment is widely used in the process industries (oil & gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, plastics and rubber and the food and beverage industry), energy production and gas storage and transportation.
Pressure equipment and assemblies above specified pressure and/or volume thresholds must: be safe, meet essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing, satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures, and carry the CE mark and other information.
Sound Engineering Practice (SEP)
Pressure equipment and assemblies below the specified pressure/volume thresholds must: be safe, be designed and manufactured in accordance with the sound engineering practice (SEP) and carry specified markings (but not the CE mark).
Module H Approval
Classic Filters has Module H approval for PED and allows supply of CE marked housings for standard products and specials – even if you require a single special housing we can supply it with a CE mark. We can also supply you a Declaration of Conformity with every filter housing with a CE mark
