FAQ – SM106 Housing Port Connections
Which port is which on the SM106 series PTFE-membrane housing?
We are often asked to clarify about how the ports on our PTFE-membrane housings are connected so we thought it would be a good idea to highlight this on the blog.
The SM106 (and SM206) series housings have four ports and these are numbered 1 to 4. In a typical installation three ports are used – inlet port, outlet port and drain port with the spare port being plugged (a NPT port plug is supplied with the housing for this purpose). The housing is designed with four ports to give flexibility when mounting the housing on a panel as the flow path can be arranged from left to right or right to left.
Here the flow path is from left to right with Port 3 at the bottom and 4 being plugged –
And if the flow path from right to left the housing is inverted with Port 4 at the bottom –
Port 4 can also be utilised for other functions such as a pressure gauge –
